Privacy policy
Last updated October 25, 2026
This policy explains what information Log Home People ("we", "us") collects when you visit loghomepeople.com, how it's used, and the choices you have.
Information you give us
When you use the Suggest a product form, we collect what you type into it:
- the Amazon link or product ID you paste in,
- your note about why the product is useful, if you add one, and
- your name, if you choose to give it.
We use this to add the product to the site, decide where it belongs, and thank you on a live stream if you gave a name. Suggested products are published automatically in the Viewer picks section of the home page, with the product's name, picture and a short description we write. Your note isn't shown on the site; it helps write the description. Your name isn't shown either unless we choose to credit you, and you can leave it blank if you'd rather not be.
Suggestions are stored with our hosting provider (Vercel) and delivered to us by email through an email delivery service (Resend). To write the description and check for spam, the product's details and your note (not your name) are sent to an AI model provider (OpenRouter, which routes it to Anthropic's Claude). These services process the information on our behalf. We don't sell this information or add you to any mailing list.
If you paste a short link (like amzn.to), our server follows it to Amazon to find the actual product page. To get the product's official name and picture, we look up the Amazon product page through a data provider (Bright Data). Only the product's address is sent for that, nothing about you.
The contact form
When you use the contact form, we collect your name and email address if you give them, your message, and any photos, videos, audio or documents you attach. We use them to read and answer your message. Your name, email and message are emailed to us through Resend, and your files are stored privately with Vercel. They aren't published, and only Log Home People can open them.
Accounts and show alerts
You can sign up with your email address to get show alerts. There's no password: we email you a link that signs you in, and opening it keeps that browser signed in for 30 days with a cookie. Your account holds your email, your name if you add it, which alerts you want, and a list of what you've sent us from that address (product suggestions, messages and photos sent before you signed up are linked to your account by email address).
Alerts are emails we send by hand when a show is scheduled, when it's starting, and when the replay is up. Each one has your own link to join the show's Zoom, a link to change which alerts you get, and a one-click unsubscribe link. You can turn alerts off at any time from your account.
If you follow or support Log Home People on Buy Me a Coffee, we've added your name and email address from Buy Me a Coffee so show alerts that used to come from there now come from us, and Buy Me a Coffee tells us when a paid membership starts or ends so we can thank supporters. Accounts are stored with a database provider (Neon) and emails go out through Resend.
Email to info@loghomepeople.com and the live show page
Email sent to info@loghomepeople.com, and anything sent from the live show page we show as a QR code during streams, is handled like the contact form: stored privately, and photos, videos and product links may be shown on the live stream. Emails from people we don't know that contain links or files are held until we approve them.
The log stacking planner
The log stacking planner runs entirely in your browser. The projects, log measurements and plans you enter are saved in your browser's local storage on your own device, and are never sent to us or anyone else. Clearing your browser's site data deletes them, so use the planner's backup button if you want to keep a copy.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps standard server logs, which can include your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time of the request. These are used to run and secure the site.
To keep bots from spamming our forms, the suggest and contact pages run Vercel BotID, an invisible bot check. It looks at technical signals from your browser and device to tell people from automated scripts. It's used only for that check, not for tracking or ads.
The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers when a page loads. Google's handling of that request is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies include web beacons, pixels and local storage. The Log Home People site does not use analytics or advertising trackers. It may store a few things in your browser: a cookie or similar identifier set by the bot check on our forms, used only to tell people from bots; a sign-in cookie if you sign in to an account; and the projects you save in the log stacking planner, which stay on your device.
Third parties may still place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons and similar technologies, when you interact with their content or follow links to their sites. See the next section.
Amazon Associates and other third parties
Log Home People is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Product links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something on Amazon, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
Third parties, including Amazon and other advertisers, may serve content and advertisements, collect information directly from visitors, and place or recognize cookies on visitors' browsers. When you click an Amazon link, Amazon may use cookies to track the referral and your purchases. That information is collected by Amazon, not by us, and is governed by the Amazon Privacy Notice. We receive only aggregate reports of clicks and sales, not who you are.
We also link to Buy Me a Coffee for support and stream alerts, and the home page loads Buy Me a Coffee's support button from their servers so you can give without leaving the site. Anything you give Buy Me a Coffee, such as your email address or payment details, is handled under their privacy policy.
We aren't responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party sites. Please review their policies.
Your choices
- The suggestion form is optional, and you can leave your name blank.
- You can change which alert emails you get, or unsubscribe from all of them, from your account or the link at the bottom of any alert.
- Most browsers let you block or delete cookies, including third-party cookies, in their settings. Blocking cookies may affect how other sites, such as Amazon, work for you.
- You can opt out of interest-based ads from many companies at aboutads.info and Amazon's advertising preferences.
YouTube API Services
This site uses YouTube API Services. We use them to show our latest episode on the home page and, for the site owner only, to upload recordings of our own show to our own YouTube channel and add them to our replay playlist. When you watch our videos or use these features, you're also covered by the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
Viewers never sign in with Google on this site, and we don't collect any information about viewers from YouTube. The only Google account connected is the channel owner's. For that account we store a sign-in token that lets the site upload to our channel, the channel's name, and the video IDs and titles of our own episodes. The token is stored with our database provider (Neon) and is used only to upload our show recordings and manage our own playlist.
The channel owner can revoke the site's access at any time from Google's third-party connections page. When access is revoked, or if you ask us to, we delete the stored token. Information we get from YouTube about our own videos is refreshed regularly, and we don't keep any YouTube data about anyone else.
How long we keep information
Suggestions and contact messages, including attached files, stay in our email and in storage until we no longer need them, and we delete them sooner if you ask. Featured picks stay on the site until we take them down. If you'd like a pick you suggested removed, or your name taken off it, contact us. Accounts are kept until you ask us to delete yours. Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited time under their retention policy.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to how it's used. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To make a request, contact us using the details below.
Children's privacy
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
